My name is Angelika Schledz. I live with my husband in a tranquil town called Eitorf, located in the Rhein-Sieg district, east of the former German capital, Bonn.

As a graduate engineer, my job involved designing and constructing special-purpose machines in mechanical engineering. This didn’t leave much time or space for creative pursuits in my private life. A few years ago—shortly before I began my retirement—I saw a picture in a magazine of perforated chicken eggs. I was immediately fascinated!
And so I have been perforating ostrich eggs, rhea eggs, goose eggs, turkey eggs and swan eggs since 2015.
For this purpose, I use a high-speed multifunctional device with a flexible shaft and collet into which I clamp the various tools.
The pattern of the perforation and the thickness of the egg’s shell determine the special tools.
The eggs I perforate also need to be presented well, so I gather various materials in the forest, which I then carve into a framework using carving chisels. I also install lighting in some of the objects.

This craft brings me a lot of joy and I really hope that I can also bring some of you a lot of pleasure with my egg artwork!
My workshop mark with the corresponding year of creation of the object.

Since July 2023 I have been a member of the Federal Association of Arts and Crafts, Frankfurt
